What’s Your Plan?

The Army has a plan for everything, however they don’t call them plans, they call them SOPs. SOP stands for standard operating procedure. And the Army has an SOP for everything. There are SOP’s for loading trucks, repairing vehicles and even for walking around(they called it marching).

The reason the Army has an SOP for everything, is because they need to get a large group of people to perform various tasks. With an SOP every one knows what to do, how to do it and the results to expect. It keeps everyone on the same page. Without an SOP chaos would be the order of the day.

My drill Sargent use to say: “you can only slide so far on barb wire.”

A Plan Is Not Hard To Put Together.

Your plan can be simple, or very detailed. Who cares… just as long as it produces the results you want and can be repeated.

The key is to create a plan that you will work. You could have one that is highly detailed with charts, and graphs… but if you aren’t going to use it, then it’s worthless. In fact, a plan scrawled on a napkin that is used is more effective. Don’t get hung up on the format of your plan.

Get one you can work, and produce results.

Because without a plan you could find yourself between a dog and a lamp post.
