What’s a 2%er?
Today I received this email asking what does becoming a 2%er mean. Here is the email from Jonathan…
Hi there,
I was just wondering how a 2% is defined? I can’t find an explanation on your site…
I realized that he was right, and I’ve never explained what becoming a 2%er is all about. It’s really a play on a phrase I’ve heard many times in my life.
98% fail to take action…
I’ve heard many times that 98 percent of people won’t do anything with the information available to them. People seem to have a habit of collecting information, just they keep gathering, and gathering. Almost like some people who collect stamps or baseball cards.
Eventually they become overloaded with information, and end up sitting on their hands. And if you ask what are they waiting for, you’ll get many answers…
It’s because they’re waiting for one more piece of information. One more resource, one more thing to happen, one more question to be answered, one more resource that they need to check before they implement their plans. It never ends… They’re always looking for that for that magic bullet…
They fail because they fail to take action. Are they afraid of failure? Afraid of success? I don’t know… they just won’t do anything.
2% make it happen
On the other hand 2% seem to succeed no matter what. The question is why do they succeed? Why do they succeed under the same circumstances that the 98% can’t make it work?
The answer is because they take consistent action over prolonged period of time. They make a plan, and full steam ahead.
Have you ever noticed how a high achiever operates? They don’t wait for the circumstances to be perfect. They just start and make do with what they have. Most of the time their information is incomplete… but that doesn’t stop them. It almost seems to embolden them.
Eventually they run into a dead end, or an obstacle. So, what do they do? They quickly weigh their options, make course adjustments and take more action. Eventually they reached their destination. And that’s the secret to becoming a 2%. Taking action with what you have and picking up the pieces as you go along.
My definition of a 2%er…
I’d have to say it boils down to jumping in there, taking action. Stop collecting information, stop waiting for one more resource, and stop waiting for one more question to be answered. Pick a plan, stick your head down and go…
When you hit an obstacle or make a mistake evaluate your options. Figure out the best course of action, and jump back into action. Make sure you learn from your mistakes. Keep going and eventually you’ll experience success.
You’ll become a 2%er.
function toggleview(element1) {
var element1 = document.getElementById(element1);
if (element1.style.display == 'block' || element1.style.display == ''){ element1.style.display = 'none'; }else{ element1.style.display = 'block'; element1.style.position = 'absolute';
} return; }

Great revelation on 2%er
Kind regards

Hi Keith
That’s a great explanation of what a 2%er is. And how to go about it. And even if you do take a bit longer than other people do, as long as you are taking consistent action, you are moving in the right direction. Let’s go!

Shazan

Great, thanks! This is what I was curious about. May I suggest including a variation of this answer on your “About” page? That’s where I expected to find it.

The definition of a 2%er was something I’d taken for granted… should have explained it sooner.
I’ll add a variation to my about page.

Good explanation! I’ve seen your Entrecard widget (Become A 2%er) for quite a long time and never thought what it was. Now I understand.

Well said!! My dear hubby always says you got to real stop and think of everything, blah, blah but then never gets anywhere!! He’s definitely not an over acheiver and also not a 2%er either. I put this article in wordpad and I am going to show him this in the am! I will tell him that I want him to be a 2%er
