Help Becky Defeat Breast Cancer…
Here’s something cool. A co-worker of my wife Becky is participating in a 5k breast cancer walk. She is hoping to raise $1000 for The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer by October 19th. Here is the best part… She has chosen Becky as her honoree. How cool is that!
As you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Right now the best defense against breast cancer, or any cancer, is early detection. If you think something is wrong, don’t take a chance… get it checked out. One of the biggest reasons Becky’s breast cancer was treatable was because she went right in & got it checked. I for one am glad she didn’t mess around.
Here is the email Becky sent out to her friends & family…
Dear Friends and Family
As you know, I’m a breast cancer survivor — survivor due to the advances of treatment and early detention!! Without continued research, more women (and men too) will have to face this dreaded disease.
A colleague of mine, Laura Burroughs, has formed a team in NJ for the American Cancer Society – Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. If you have a few spare dollars, would appreciate you clicking on the link below and make a donation (via the Burroughs Bunch team). It is a charitable contribution and a receipt will be produced for tax purposes.
Laura had set a modest goal of $250 and has already surpassed that mark. Let’s raise the goal to $1000 and would ask for your support through a donation, and also forward this link to other friends and family so they too can help achieve the new goal of $1000.

Thanks for all your support.

Laura has already smashed past this goal, and I think it would be cool to really knock it out of the park.
So, head on over there & if you want feel free to donate to help defeat this dreaded disease.
Thanks,
Keith
Breast Cancer Sucks!

My wife called me yesterday, and I could tell instantly she was upset. Her doctor’s office called & said they didn’t like the levels of her latest blood tests. So, they are scheduling a series of tests.
Back in August 2005 my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She finished her treatments in May of 2006 & given the all clear by the doctors. Becky went through 2 surgeries, 2 rounds of chemo & a round of radiation. Through it all I was amazed at how tough she was.
However she said the hardest part of the whole ordeal was not the surgery, chemo or radiation… it was the waiting. Waiting to get scheduled for tests, waiting for the test results, waiting for the doctors’ appointments to discuss test results, waiting to take treatments, waiting to see if the treatments worked…
I couldn’t agree more. It can be agonizing sitting around waiting… not being able to do anything.
We might not have been able to do anything about Becky’s cancer… but we were able to redirect that energy towards other things.
For instance we did race for the cure. It was such an emotional high watching Becky cross the finish line 12 weeks out of surgery. I still tear up thinking about that moment. I’d asked my customers to support Becky’s race for the cure. We were overwhelmed with letters of support, donations & prayers. It was uplifting.
So here we are in 2008…
And we are being pulled right back into the waiting game. It’s both scary & frustrating, but we have to let the process run its course.
Once again I might not be able to do anything about the tests… but I can redirect that energy towards other things.
And here’s the first one…
Michel & Sylvie Fortin are putting on a teleseminar with many of the top names in marketing. People like Willie Crawford, Armand Morin , Donna Fox, Clayton Makepeace, Fran Kern, Jim Edwards, Joel Comm, John Carlton, Mike Filsaime & and many others.
This event will only cost a donation to the Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade. You get to pick the amount to donate it’s your choice. The donations can only be made directly to Avon Foundation’s Breast Cancer Crusade. Sylvie will not be taking any donations from her website.
All you have to get on the teleseminar is go to http://www.marketerspledge.org give them your name, email & tell Sylvie your pledge amount. That’s it.
They only need your name & email so they can tell you the day & time of the event.
So, head on over there now & do your part to help fight breast cancer.
P.S. I’d also like to ask for some help. Becky’s going to go through a series of tests the next couple of weeks. Please pray we hear good news from these tests.
[Edit - I wrote this post Friday a few hours after Becky called with the news. I sat on it over the weekend not sure if I was going to publish it. I didn't know if I wanted to put this out there for all to read.
I realized today that writing this Friday had helped me cope with the news. So, in a way it was cathartic. Now it's time to be proactive. By asking for help I hope we can help get closer to ending this dreadful disease.]
