Increase Web Traffic with Entrecard
Wait… I know what you’re thinking? Doh! Nothing-new here… Everybody knows that Entrecard will increase web traffic. The big problem is it’s a bunch of junk traffic.
Folks just whiz by drop their card and leave. Barely stopping long enough to even notice the name of each blog. Maybe, maybe not…
What if I told you the traffic is not as junky as been reported? Would that surprise you? Or would you scoff and be on your way?
Here are 3 ways to improve quality of Entrecard traffic…
- Drop on those who drop on you - Make a habit to drop on those that drop on you, and you’ll get repeat visitors. And repeat visitors are more likely to participate in your blog. I really noticed an upturn in my comments after doing this.
- Buy ads in your category - Make sure to spend your credits in your category. I’ve seen some people advise to buy all the cheap ads to get your 125X125 out there.However my experience has shown that if you are advertising in your category traffic quality improves. Remember you want like-minded people coming to your blog.
- Drop in your category - I know there are lists out there of fast loading blogs, you drop - I follow and others like these. These lists will allow you to rack up the credits fast ,and bring traffic to your blog.However unfocused dropping it why so many get “junk” traffic. It’s not really junk… it’s unfocused. You want people coming to your blog who already have an interest in the subject of your blog. Dropping in your category brings people like-minded visitors.
One thing I’ve noticed… most of the time our blogs could fit within multiple categories. I’ve found these tips work well with related categories. So, don’t limit yourself to the category your blog appears.
These 3 tips have helped increase the quality of the traffic. Plus, they have helped improve the popularity of this blog in the Entrecard categories.
Thanks for the advice. While I do drop and post in my category, one of my goals is to post/visit across many different genres so that I get more exposure for my blog and in turn my Etsy shop. If I only dropped on Artists, Crafters, and Fashion I would miss a large audience potential. I have found many blogs, including yours, that I stop and read regularly but don’t always leave a comment.

Your three tips can greatly improve quality traffic.
But I had not done yet the 3rd way you’re mentioning.
I better consider doing card dropping in my category.

I agree with you Keith. I also visit and drop on the websites of advertisers on my blog and request that they do the same once I’ve approved their ad. And then I usually stop and read some of the posts but don’t always comment. I think your tips are spot on.

Although I don’t get 300+ comments a day, I do a fair amount. I have made friends with so many people through Entrecard. I probably post on 20+ blogs a day, some are regulars but many are just blogs I come across with a topic I have something to contribute to.
I think the key to getting comments to your posts is to have a topic that is controversial enough to have people on both sides that want to give their opinion.

ECers get a bad rap - not all of us are drop and runners! Hell, some of us even take the time to leave a comment. I cannot think of a better system out there for new blogs to get up and running with immediate exposure. I sure wish it was around when I started. Anyway, I am a reciprocal dropper only - the traffic for me is just a bonus but I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about it. I’m there for the friends and fun - all the best!

Good tips. I actually do these too. I drop on those who drop on me. And then when I want to do a bunch of other drops, I go to my category “Parenting & Family” and drop on them. I also mostly do advertise in my category.(Sometimes I’ll advertise on say Personal Diary or Womens Interests, because I feel like those are closely related too) I think that makes sense & feel they will be more likely to approve my ads, and I get better CTR’s when I advertise in my own category.

So as to deter EntreCard member from jumping to the next site, place your EC widget at the bottom of your page (like what Keith did).
In this manner, EC member will at least need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and who know, they might notice something and pause and read your contents.This technique does work though for those hardcore EC member who just drop card for the sake of earning EC credits.

These are great tips to help your entrecard traffic get better. Compared to other traffic services I have used entrecard has been the best. I have gotten more comments and over all interaction with entrecard because you can target people in your niche. You can use entrecard credits to help you in other way too.

I found your site from Entrecard so I do beleive that the traffic is not all bounce traffic. Something needs to be done to stop the drop and run though.
It would be quite easy to do too, just restrict drops per hour and you will get rid of chain dropping immediately.

i really loved what you have posted here. it’s very enlightening. i have several blogs all with EC widget on it, what i do is dropped on those who dropped at me and finish the day with other interesting blogs such as yours.
im a mommy blogger but i really love visiting blogs with money making opportunities, SEO and web traffic. so, i usually drop on many blogs of interest…not only mommy blogs.

Great advice for Entrecard users! Sure if you don’t use any method properly it could all turn to junk, but taking the time to read, learn, and comment along with visiting your visitors in return is priceless!

I don’t believe that all Entrecard traffic is junk. But what I really like about Entrecard is the social bookmark exchanges. I just started using them and already it has driven a ton of traffic besides the entrecard users.
