I agree that would have been a cool domain name to have & easy to remember.

I just tried twitterme.com but of course it's already taken and parked. I knew it was a long shot but it sure would have been cool.

Nothing wrong with pointing a domain to something.. even a twitter profile. In "Twitter Revolution: How Social Media and Mobile Marketing is Changing the Way We Do Business & Market Online" we started the book with two word that apply here.. NO RULES!

For a guru teaching new user how to get to twitter and his profile, it seems like a nice clean way of doing it.. I've done something similar with http://TwitCastRadio.com.. my Twitter radio show on BlogTalkRadio.

I often think that I could be getting more fame from the BTR show with http://BlogTalkRadio.com/warren, which leads to the same show.. but opted to promote the Twitter angle as I was writing a book on Twitter at the time.

Frankly, I am not out to convert non-users to Twitter. I love telling people about the site, but realize that there many many people that aren't ready for it (read "The 3 Stages of Twitter Acceptance" at http://budurl.com/3stages)

I now use a card that had a photo of our book cover, with my name and @WarrenWhitlock.. that's it. If I meet someone that need my email address I write it on the back of the card (very rare when I get through with them ).

This started when I did a social media panel at the PUBCON (WebMasterWorld) convention. After hearing speakers say "does anyone here use Twitter?" and "Does anyone not use Twitter?" I got up and said "If you aren't using Twitter.. go ahead and leave the room.. we'll be here when you catch on"

All kidding aside. Use whatever works for your market. After all, we're all hear to make meaningful connections with people.. not build a bureaucracy. When you make connections and build relationships with human beings.. you'll do more business with them and get more done not matter what your goals.

@Casey thanks for the comments. I've started using it on different profile pages.

@Brad you're right about it only costing $10 or less. It's a low cost investment for something that should be around for a while.

@Stephan Good idea about the Twitter counter. It's a good way to display some social proof.

@Dennis I guess it really boils down to personal preference. I like the way it looks...

I don't get it. I mean, I "get it", it's not difficult but why exactly?

It does look a little cleaner I suppose as a normal URL, but the twitter URL is more recognizable AS a twitter URL.

If I saw twitterkeith.com anywhere else, I would think before clicking it, that it was a site "Keith" put up ABOUT twitter...not his profile. I'm not sure if that would actually annoy me or not.

Am I making sense? LOL Sorry for putting you in the 3rd party, it worked out that way. ;)

Another way that I have found that works very well is get a Twitter counter and put it right beside your feed icon on your blog.

Nice idea Keith. Twitter will certainly be around long enough to spend under $10 for a dedicated domain like that. It really is a nice looking URL.
