Exclusive Interview With Ed Dale From The 30 Day Challenge

Score!

Ed Dale has given an exclusive interview… How cool is that!

You can sign up free by clicking the Thirty Day Challenge link here. It’s fun & you’ll learn some awesome methods to build an online business. The best part is there are no OTO, Up sell or down sell pages to go through. You put in your name & email address & your in… that’s it.

The preseason training has already started, but it’s easy to catch up. Ed Dale, Dan Raine & the gang have put together an outstanding training program. Some of the stuff I’ve learned in preseason has blown me away.

Another cool part is you are not alone during the training. Once you’ve registered you can join a team and complete the challenge together. This is the pure genius of the whole thing. Teams form to support, help & play off each others strengths. They network together, answer questions, lend moral support, help each other & cheer each other on. It’s a great way to stay motivated & help each other get through the challenge together.

One more thing… this a referral link. Ed & Dan are having a contest, and giving points for each person who joins. It’s a contest & they are giving away prizes based on the number of people who join. Here is what they say about it…

Promote The Challenge And Win

We want this years challenge to be the biggest and best yet, and we need your help. On the right hand side of the page you will notice a new section titled Referal Points. Currently you have X points, and you know what they say in gameshow land… points make prizes. And boy, do we have some prizes to give away.

Now I am not going to spoil Ed’s fun as he is going to be revealing some of the amazing prizes on the launch show tonight. But believe me, they are way cool!

I invite you to join & some of us can form a 30 Day Challenge Team. Here is the 30 Day Challenge Link again.

What’s a 2%er?

Today I received this email asking what does becoming a 2%er mean. Here is the email from Jonathan…

Hi there,

I was just wondering how a 2% is defined? I can’t find an explanation on your site…

I realized that he was right, and I’ve never explained what becoming a 2%er is all about. It’s really a play on a phrase I’ve heard many times in my life.

98% fail to take action…

I’ve heard many times that 98 percent of people won’t do anything with the information available to them. People seem to have a habit of collecting information, just they keep gathering, and gathering. Almost like some people who collect stamps or baseball cards.

Eventually they become overloaded with information, and end up sitting on their hands. And if you ask what are they waiting for, you’ll get many answers…

It’s because they’re waiting for one more piece of information. One more resource, one more thing to happen, one more question to be answered, one more resource that they need to check before they implement their plans. It never ends… They’re always looking for that for that magic bullet…

They fail because they fail to take action. Are they afraid of failure? Afraid of success? I don’t know… they just won’t do anything.

2% make it happen

On the other hand 2% seem to succeed no matter what. The question is why do they succeed? Why do they succeed under the same circumstances that the 98% can’t make it work?

The answer is because they take consistent action over prolonged period of time. They make a plan, and full steam ahead.

Have you ever noticed how a high achiever operates? They don’t wait for the circumstances to be perfect. They just start and make do with what they have. Most of the time their information is incomplete… but that doesn’t stop them. It almost seems to embolden them.

Eventually they run into a dead end, or an obstacle. So, what do they do? They quickly weigh their options, make course adjustments and take more action. Eventually they reached their destination. And that’s the secret to becoming a 2%. Taking action with what you have and picking up the pieces as you go along.

My definition of a 2%er…

I’d have to say it boils down to jumping in there, taking action. Stop collecting information, stop waiting for one more resource, and stop waiting for one more question to be answered. Pick a plan, stick your head down and go…

When you hit an obstacle or make a mistake evaluate your options. Figure out the best course of action, and jump back into action. Make sure you learn from your mistakes. Keep going and eventually you’ll experience success.

You’ll become a 2%er.

Some Blog Post You Might Have Missed…

Catching up on my blog reading this weekend. I thought I’d share a couple post I found interesting that you might have missed…

Set Dates with Yourself – How to Be Productive

Ricky Breslin gives some great advice on becoming more productive. You have to be ruthless with your time management. He is pretty upfront about who to blame for poor productivity. He hit the bullseye, and shows a simple plan to higher productivity.

Overcome Marketing Guru Confusion

With all the hoopla recently over Guru’s, Ray Edwards came up with a short but powerful plan to follow.

[edit - Ray’s blog post is not bashing anyone, or being negative in any way.  The following comment is my opinion… I think I’ll expand on this thought in the next few days. :)]

Remember one thing… even those folks who bash Gurus are selling products.

What it takes to succeed in business.

Jonathan Leger discusses what it takes to succeed in business. Mostly is what’s going on between the ears… the state of affairs in our own thinking.

A Sneak Peak At My New Product

Just finished up my new product yesterday. It was hard work to make it by the deadline… not as hard a digging ditches. But, still I was under a tight deadline.

My friend Mike Ambrosio has created a fire sale to help his niece with some of the medical costs her family will encounter in her battle with colon cancer…

Lauren*Love for Lauren

*Lauren is my 17 year old neice.
She is currently battling colon
cancer - a cancer which inflicts
less than 3 in 15 million children.
Partial proceeds from this sale will
go to help offset some of the
astronomical medical costs.

Mike asked me to contribute a product, and the decision was a no-brainer. My wife is a breast cancer survivor so it was an easy decision to help. We were lucky and had excellent insurance coverage. Even with such a great insurance coverage we only had to come out of pocket about $4,500.00. If you know anything about cancer treatments you’ll know that’s next to nothing.

Just to give you an idea of costs. The average Chemotherapy treatment starts at $3000.00, and goes up from there. And that depends on the type of chemotherapy drugs needed.

I decided to contribute a product exclusive to this fire sale, and have been working hard on it for the past couple weeks.

22 People have contributed to this project… some big names have stepped up to help. Here is a run down of the people who are involved:

1. Michael Ambrosio
2. Tom Beal
3. Tim Brocklehurst
4. Michael Cheney
5. Willie Crawford
6. Jeff Dedrick
7. Harris Fellman
8. Ross Goldberg
9. Keith Goodrum
10. John Hostler
11. Jason James
12. Lucius Kern
13. Ray LaFoy
14. Aaron Leighton
15. Eric Louviere
16. Fabio Marciano
17. Edward & Roberta Peters
18. Martin Salter
19. Nick Sanders
20. Howie Schwartz
21. Frank Sousa
22. Sterling Valentine

You will be able to get all 22 contributor’s products for one low price. I’ve used some of these products myself. I was even the copywriter for one of the products included when it was 1st released.

This fire sale kicks off tomorrow at 12 noon est. I’ll include a link when it’s live.

I can’t give a sneak peak of the product I’ve contributed, but I can give you a preview of the eBook cover:

“Gurus” vs. “DoRus” How To Get The Cure…

Last night I stayed up till 3:30am reading Scott Boulch’s new ebook “The Internet Marketing Cure”. You can grab a free copy here. All I can say is wow… great stuff.

This is not your typical bash the “Gurus”, and then set up the author as the only true person to follow. You don’t have to worry about him skimping on the content… then at the end rolling out some shiny new product “you have to get now! We will only be releasing 22… And Then Shutting The Doors FOREVER!!!”

From what I’ve read Scott has gained a reputation for publishing controversial stuff. And this one is no exception.

It seems like he has coined a new term “Dorus”, and it really fits. Basically he says to only follow & buy stuff from folks who are actually doing what they are selling.

Why what you drive can make you a better salesperson…

Let me tell you a story… This will be quick so stay with me here. I use to sell Hondas for a living. And I was always either 1st or 2nd in sales month after month after month. Why? Well I applied proven sales strategies. I qualified the customer, demonstrated the product, overcame objections and closed the sale. But, so did the other top salespeople.

There was one advantage I had over the other sales people. You see almost every customer that came to look at Hondas asked one question. And my answer to this question gave me instant credibility.

Customers would ask… “What do you drive?” I proudly said a Honda. I was usually the only sales person who owned a Honda. In fact it went beyond the Honda dealership… the Toyota guy didn’t drive a Toyota, the Ford guy didn’t drive a Ford, The Chevy guy didn’t drive a Chevy…

Customers asked this question everywhere… because I also worked at a Chevy & a Nissan store. And guess what? The customers asked the same question at those dealerships.

Here is the thought that goes through a customers mind when you tell them you don’t drive what you are selling… Why are you trying to sell me this if you are not proud enough to own one yourself?

What speaks louder than words…

It’s all about finding someone who is taking action with the stuff they are teaching. Imagine, actually expecting someone to sell stuff they have had success already using. The basic message is to avoid theory “weenies” like the plague.

Really common sense information.

Some of the other stuff he covers in the report…

This report is 59 pages long, and covers quite a bit of information. It is pretty content packed, with a few “a-ha moments” I found myself nodding in agreement many times. He also shows you…

  • How to distinguish valuable knowledge from junk.
  • How to tell the difference between a Guru & a DoRu from approximately 1 mile away.
  • Why web 2.0 might kill the “Rock Star” Gurus.
  • What’s the acid test to take before you buy another product.
  • What is the best model to follow to really make it online.

Scott also gives you a couple cool tools you can use to start putting a plan into action.

Click on the link to grab your free copy of “The Internet Marketing Cure”.

I’d like to give a special thanks to Rick Butts for giving me the heads up on this. His blog post Unsubscribe From Whomever Emailed You Stompernet got me to download the report.

Hard Work, Luck & the 100th Post…

Looked at the dashboard today and saw this was the 100th post. It’s a cool milestone, and a chance to look back at the short life of this blog. Here are a few of the numbers:

  • In 117 days there has been 100 posts.
  • The last 2 weeks of January there were 694 unique visitors, and through the 1st 8 days in May there has been 1072. (Knock on wood that the numbers keep growing)
  • Unranked in Alexa in January, and today 148,868.
  • Zero page rank in Google, and PR3 today.

These numbers are fun to watch because they are fast improving. This is a new blog, and the numbers will make big jumps. And that’s always fun to track. Eventually the numbers will level off, and at best will see incremental moves. This is just the normal course of action as a blog matures.

The big question is what’s the reason behind this growth?

The easiest answer is… action.

Pretty simple, and not overly complicated. I’ve worked hard to get up 100 posts in 117 days. I remember reading once that a new blog should get up a lot of good content fast. And I figured blogging 5-6 days a week should be a way to get that much content.

Publishing this many blog posts a week was not easy. There were many days I got up with no idea what to write about. But I wouldn’t let myself off the hook. I made myself sit down in front of the keyboard and write. I would write 2 maybe 3 paragraphs not like what I wrote, and start over again. Many of those early drafts I deleted.

Sometimes I would write a complete post, and decide not to publish it. I was not happy with the way it turned out. It either got way off point, didn’t read good or the timing didn’t feel right.

So, I would start all over again. I was not going to miss my personal commitment.

Another curious thing happened because of this hard work…

It put me in position to receive a little luck. A couple of big name bloggers linked to my blog… I was lucky to have them do that. But if I wasn’t adding content on a regular basis would they have linked to this blog? I don’t know, but probably not. I got to interview copywriter Stephen Dean. That interview has generate traffic, and back links. If I wasn’t actively involved in the blogsphere I would have missed this opportunity. I got asked to participate in a Marcus Hochstadt blog contest. Would I have been asked to participate if I wasn’t blogging on a regular basis? Probably not.

I guess it boils down to this… Luck and hard work go hand in hand.

Here’s how I’ve always felt about this. It seems like when you are working hard you tend to be in the right place at the right time. You find luck out on the playing field. You have to be in the game. When you are out there working hard, making the plays, you will find yourself standing in the right place at the right time. If you are standing on the sidelines when luck happens by, you will miss out, because luck will pass you by.

I think that Will Wheaton, and Sam Adams make great points about luck & hard work. They both write that you need to be working hard to be in position to have good things happen.

Will Wheaton sums up about hard work and luck in his post yet another post about writing… and stuff

Finally, an important note to all artists: nobody in the world will work as hard as you will to promote your work, nobody will care about promoting it as much as you do, and your work will be as successful as you work to make it. Hopefully, you’ll get lucky like I did and get some good word of mouth and connect with a passionate group of people who will tell their friends about you, but that’s never going to happen if you don’t work hard — really, really hard — to make it happen.

Here is what Sam Adams says in his post titled Luck and hard work go hand in hand:

Luck is about being there. Luck is about showing up. I tease my kids all the time that it might be true that it is better to be lucky than be good; but I also tell them that you can’t get lucky if you are not prepared to accept it.

Every champion, in sports or industry, can look back over the course of competition and see places where they were fortunate, opportunistic and sometimes just downright lucky.

Everybody, and I mean everybody, gets lucky. What we all want in life is a shot. What we do with that shot, that’s the story we want to tell.

What do you do with the luck that falls your way?

So, what are you going to do to make sure you are standing in the way when luck comes along?
