Got interviews and jobs for a few people just because we used direct response techniques in the cover letter. My favorite P.S. for a cover letter: "P.S. Please call 000-000-0000 so we can schedule an interview. The best time to contact me is 4 PM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday." Every time I used this, the client would freak out. "What? I'm available ALL the time! What if they can't call me during those hours?" "That's the whole point. You DON'T want to be available all the time. Give the impression you're a busy, successful person." Most clients would "get it" after I explained this to them.
