This is a quote by Woody Allen. I’ve also seen 90% as the number. Now I get what he is saying, and to some degree it is true. However I believe that a large element is left off.

You see, you can show up and stake your claim of success…

But what if you show up at the wrong place?

Are you still a success? You showed up. Try showing up to work at the wrong place… will you get credit for showing up?

Take my experience for example. In my post This Is Where It All Begins… I showed up at the wrong place again, and again. Each place had plenty of information to wade through. Plenty of opinions, lots of advice… most of it contradictory. And very few people doing what they were teaching. All this activity left the illusion that I was busy, but not much got done.

Oh yeah, I got the benefit of wasting a lot of time.

The solution is obvious… show up at the right place. Find someone who has achieved the level of success you want, and show up. Adopt the course of action they recommend, and buckle down. Stay on point, follow the plan laid out, and watch good things happen.

So many people jump from one plan to the next looking for the magic pill. By the way magic pill is code for looking for the easy way to riches. There is no magic pill… however there is a way. And it comes disguised as work.
